Notice of Exemptions for Students Enrolling via the Entrance Examination, via High School Equivalency, and under the ‘Second University’ Scheme for the 2026–2027 Academic Year
Students enrolling in the Faculty of Open Learning’s Overseas Programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year may submit applications for exemption from the following courses:
Principles of Atatürk and History of the Turkish Revolution I–II,
Turkish Language I–II,
Foreign Language I–II
must be submitted via the Student Information System at aosogrenci.anadolu.edu.tr during the enrolment period.
The exemption process may only be carried out once during the enrolment period; requests for exemption submitted after the announced deadlines will not be accepted.
For candidates whose graduation details are recorded on the e-Government portal, the system will automatically grant exemption from the compulsory YÖK courses in the programme they are enrolling in. These courses will be marked as such in the Student Information System; candidates who do not wish to be exempted from these courses may deselect the relevant course(s). This can be done up until the final day of the relevant exemption application period.
Students who do not have YÖKSİS details on e-Government must apply as follows.
Students who update their graduation details on e-Government after completing their registration must also apply for an exemption via the Student Information System.
Students for whom no graduation details are available on e-Government may apply for an exemption by completing the relevant fields regarding their educational background themselves and uploading the required document (Diploma/Graduation Certificate).
Students who have educational records on e-Government other than graduation details (those who are enrolled, have withdrawn, or have obtained an associate degree) may apply for exemption by uploading a certified Turkish transcript.
Students who enrol on the Overseas Programmes of the Faculty of Open Learning at Anadolu University may only apply for exemptions via the Student Information System during the relevant enrolment periods. Applications for exemptions may only be made once via the Student Information System during the enrolment periods; requests for exemptions submitted after the announced dates will not be accepted.
Enrolment dates can be found under the ‘Academic Calendar’ link at globalcampus.anadolu.edu.tr. Students may apply for exemptions until the final day of the enrolment period for the enrolment type completed most recently—whether this is enrolment via the Selection Examination, enrolment via High School Equivalency, or enrolment for a second university degree—even if they have already enrolled under a different enrolment type.
Advice for Students Uploading Documents
Documents uploaded by students that are not suitable for an exemption request (e.g. those marked ‘Sample’; or those lacking a stamp, signature, e-signature, QR code, barcode, etc., or which cannot be verified) or that are not in Turkish will not be approved and will be rejected. Students in this situation must upload the appropriate documents within the exemption application period.
Uploading a document to request an exemption does not automatically mean that an exemption will be granted for all YÖK compulsory modules for which an exemption is sought. The student’s modules and the uploaded document are reviewed, and the request is assessed accordingly. Modules for which an exemption has been granted are indicated by the letter grade ‘MU’ in the Student Information System and on the Academic Transcript.
Students who do not have their graduation details recorded in YÖKSİS on the e-Government portal but who have declared their graduation status by completing the ‘educational status’ field themselves must upload their graduation certificate to the Exemption Application panel.
From a higher education programme;
Graduating students; from the courses ‘Principles of Atatürk and History of the Turkish Revolution I–II’, ‘Turkish Language I–II’ and ‘Foreign Language I–II’,
Students who are enrolled, have had their enrolment cancelled, or have withdrawn from a degree programme to obtain an associate degree may apply for exemption from the courses listed above that they have taken and passed (with a final grade of CC or above, or MU/YT).
Students who were previously enrolled at the Faculties of Open Learning, Economics and Business Administration at Anadolu University and who are applying for exemption based on the details in their enrolment records must also submit their applications in accordance with the above instructions. Those students mentioned above who are registered by student number must update their student number to their Turkish ID number within the specified dates before submitting their exemption application.
Please note: Students who, despite having enrolled for the 2026–2027 academic year, have not submitted any exemption applications via the Student Information System during the enrolment period (excluding those whose YÖKSİS graduate details are already recorded on e-Devlet prior to enrolling at our Faculty) will not be able to submit an application during the exemption appeal period to be announced for the 2026–2027 academic year. Therefore, students wishing to apply for an exemption must ensure they complete their exemption application in full via the Student Information System within the specified application period. Exemption appeal procedures will be conducted for students who have applied for an exemption but whose requests for specific courses or documents have been rejected; an announcement regarding these appeal procedures will be published in the ‘Announcements’ section at globalcampus.anadolu.edu.tr once the exemption checks have been completed.
Applications for exemption from the courses ‘Principles of Atatürk and History of the Turkish Revolution I–II’, ‘Turkish Language I–II’ and ‘Foreign Language I–II’ (English, German and French) are to be submitted via the Student Information System.
All students wishing to apply for an exemption (except those whose YÖKSİS graduation details are already recorded on e-Devlet prior to enrolling at our Faculty) must complete all the steps relating to exemptions in the Student Information System in full. Exemption applications from students who have not completed their application for exemption or who have failed to complete the required steps in their application will not be accepted.
Students who do not have a record of enrolment in a higher education programme on the e-Government portal and/or who hold only a secondary school leaving certificate cannot apply for exemption. However, students who have graduated from a higher education programme or who have taken and passed the courses mentioned above may apply for exemption.
Students wishing to apply for exemption may request exemption from all the courses listed above via the Exemption Application Panel in the Student Information System.
Students wishing to apply for exemption must tick the courses listed on the Exemption Application Panel. Applications for courses that have not been ticked or in which the student has not achieved a pass will not be accepted. Furthermore, exemptions granted for courses cannot be revoked.
After completing the exemption application in the Student Information System, students must upload the necessary document(s) for the exemption process to the system within the published registration dates. Students are responsible for all aspects of the exemption application.
Students who wish to apply for exemptions from more than one higher education programme (whether currently enrolled, having withdrawn, or having obtained an associate degree) or who wish to upload more than one document must upload their documents consecutively within the same PDF file (in a single file), ensuring that the file size does not exceed 1 megabyte (MB).
Applications submitted via channels other than the Student Information System Exemption Application Portal (such as email, post, courier, WhatsApp, AOSDESTEK, etc.) will not be accepted.
- Students should take note of the following explanations regarding the documents required for exemption procedures:
Graduation certificates and academic transcripts obtained via e-Government are accepted.
Documents bearing an electronic signature (documents with a QR code) are accepted provided they are verified.
Documents bearing a hologram are accepted.
Turkish documents or letters confirming that students enrolled in the Foreign Language Preparatory Class have successfully completed the preparatory class are accepted.
For graduates who apply with a document issued by the ‘relevant authority’ confirming their graduation status, these documents are accepted as a ‘Provisional Graduation Certificate’.
Exemption procedures for students who have graduated from higher education programmes abroad are carried out on the basis of a certified copy of their graduation certificate, a certificate of equivalence and a certified copy of their academic transcript, all translated into Turkish.
If graduates apply with an Academic Transcript, exemption will only be granted for courses in which they have achieved a pass. The Academic Transcript is not accepted as a graduation certificate.
Documents certified as ‘true copies’ by a higher education programme are accepted. However, documents certified by other organisations, such as employers, are not accepted.
Documents in a foreign language are not accepted. For applications for exemption, Turkish translations of documents in a foreign language, certified by an institution or a notary, are accepted.
Even if students have previously submitted one of the required documents as part of their AÖF enrolment or exemption procedures, they must upload the relevant document to the system in order to complete their exemption application.
Applications for exemption submitted by students accompanied by a Certificate of Academic Standing will be assessed in accordance with the following guidelines:
The university or universities to which the Academic Transcript pertains must be selected in the application.
The most recent mark obtained in a course is the one that counts.
Courses selected in the exemption application will be assessed for exemption.
When processing exemption applications, the overall grade average on the Transcript of Records is not taken into account.
If the Academic Status Certificate uploaded for the purpose of exemption includes a different foreign language course, the request for exemption will be assessed based on the information contained in the uploaded documents.
As the exemption procedure relates to a course taken for the first time at our Faculty, it will not affect the overall grade point average.
The results of the exemption process will be announced in the ‘Announcements’ section of the globalcampus.anadolu.edu.tr website within 90 (ninety) working days of the deadline for exemption applications.
Once the exemption results for students who have enrolled for the 2026–2027 academic year have been announced, a notice regarding the exemption appeal process will be published on the website. During the enrolment period, it is not possible to submit an exemption application via the Student Information System Exemption Application Panel for documents or modules for which an exemption request has already been rejected. Students in this situation must lodge an appeal against the rejected document or module during the exemption appeal period, which will be announced at a later date. When submitting an exemption application via the Student Information System:
Students whose documents have been rejected may upload the appropriate document within the appeal period for exemptions.
A student whose request for exemption from a course has been rejected may lodge an appeal regarding that course within the appeal period.
A student who completes their application by ticking all the modules for which they wish to apply for exemption cannot update their application during the exemption application period. Should their application be rejected, they may lodge an appeal during the appeal period.
A student who has not selected at least one of the courses for which they may apply for exemption may submit an exemption request for the course they did not select by logging into the Exemption Application Portal again during the exemption application period.
A student whose exemption has been approved, or a student who has applied for exemption from all their modules and completed their application, may not request the cancellation of exemptions for modules they have previously selected. Therefore, students intending to apply for exemptions must ensure they have completed all necessary procedures before finalising their applications.
Documents that are not stamped, signed, approved, etc. will not be accepted.
Applications with missing documents or undertakings will not be accepted.
On some universities’ academic transcripts, the name of a course is listed simply as (for example) ‘Turkish Language’. If the Transcript of Records contains a note stating that the course is a one-year course or was taken over the course of a year, exemption is granted for both “Turkish Language I” and “Turkish Language II”. However, if no such note is present, exemption is granted for the course corresponding to the term in which the course appears on the Transcript of Records. If there is no clarification regarding the autumn and spring semesters on the Transcript, odd-numbered semesters are considered to be the autumn semester and even-numbered semesters the spring semester. Therefore, students requesting exemption from a course taken under the annual system must submit a letter or document proving that they took that course under the annual system (to be uploaded to the system in the same PDF file, immediately following the Transcript).
The student is responsible for the accuracy of the information contained in the document uploaded for the exemption process. Following a review of the uploaded document, changes may be made to the exemption process or the exemption may be cancelled.
