Program Introduction
Program Objectives
The Associate Degree Program in Data Visualization and Information Design aims to educate qualified individuals who are proficient not only in producing and analyzing data, but also in presenting it in a clear, interpretable, and decision-supportive manner through the principles of information design.
The program is designed to provide students with the following competencies:
- Ability to analyze different types of data (quantitative/qualitative) and generate meaningful insights
- Ability to clean, organize, and visualize datasets using appropriate software and tools
- Ability to present data clearly by designing graphics, infographics, and interactive visualizations
- Ability to effectively use visual hierarchy, color, typography, and composition principles in data storytelling
- Ability to critically evaluate misleading visualizations while considering ethical principles in data representation
- Ability to develop data-driven design projects through interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to create audience-oriented narratives using data storytelling techniques
Who Can Enroll in the Program?
Offered with the flexibility of open education, this program addresses two main target groups within the vision of lifelong learning and acquiring new skills:
- Young individuals who are starting higher education and planning a career in data science and design. High school graduates and equivalent school graduates who achieve the required score in the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) within the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) conducted by ÖSYM may enroll in the program.
- Individuals who are currently employed in different sectors or studying in other programs and wish to update their digital skills and redirect their careers. Students currently enrolled in a higher education institution or graduates of associate or bachelor’s degree programs may directly enroll in the program without taking any examination.

Evaluation of Examinations and Course Passing
The evaluation of examinations and the course passing system are determined in accordance with the “Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Education, Training and Examination Regulation,” as well as the “Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Education, Training and Examination Implementation Principles” and the “Anadolu University Open Education Faculty Student Evaluation System Principles” prepared based on the authority granted by this regulation.

Graduation Requirements
Students enrolled in the Associate Degree Program in Data Visualization and Information Design may graduate provided that they:
- Complete courses totaling 120 ECTS credits successfully
- Do not receive grades of FF, YZ, or DZ
- Achieve a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00
- Fulfill all other obligations
Graduation is not possible with incomplete credits below the required amount.
Students who fulfill the graduation requirements of the program are awarded the “Open Education Faculty Associate Degree Diploma in Data Visualization and Information Design.”
Vertical Transfer Opportunities
Graduates of the Associate Degree Program in Data Visualization and Information Design are required to take the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by the Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) in order to continue their undergraduate education from the 5th semester of formal or open education bachelor’s degree programs.
Graduates may obtain detailed information from the “2025 Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) Guide for Graduates of Vocational Schools and Open Education Associate Degree Programs,” which includes the undergraduate programs available for transfer, application requirements, and student quotas. The guide also contains principles and rules regarding application procedures, undergraduate program preferences, examination, evaluation, placement processes, and procedures conducted by vocational school directorates and units affiliated with open education associate degree programs.

- Work as data visualization specialists, data analysts, or business intelligence (BI) analysts in sectors such as technology, finance, healthcare, and public administration
- Take roles in critical institutional reporting and performance monitoring areas through positions such as data visualization specialist and dashboard developer
- Work in marketing, media, and communication sectors as professionals with data storytelling skills in content strategy and digital analytics
