The Associate Degree Program in Turkish Language and Culture is a higher education program delivered online within the scope of Anadolu University Faculty of Open Education International Programs. The primary objective of the program is to teach Turkish at an academic level and promote Turkish culture on an international scale.

Through this program, students learn to use Turkish effectively in both academic and everyday contexts while gaining a deeper understanding of Türkiye’s cultural heritage, social life, and historical richness. In addition, the program provides individuals of Turkish descent living abroad with the opportunity to strengthen their native language skills, thereby contributing to the preservation and reinforcement of cultural ties.

For more than 40 years, Anadolu University has been delivering educational services in numerous countries around the world, particularly across Europe, through its Open Education System. Program Objectives

The Associate Degree Program in Turkish Language and Culture is an international educational program designed not only for individuals of Turkish descent living abroad but also for people around the world who wish to learn Turkish as a foreign language. The primary objective of the program is to educate individuals who can use Turkish effectively in academic, social, and professional contexts while promoting Turkish culture on an international scale.

Within the scope of the program, students have the opportunity to develop their language skills systematically and progressively through a comprehensive Turkish preparatory education structured at the A1, A2, B1, B2, and C1 proficiency levels. Students who successfully complete the preparatory program become eligible to continue to the two-year associate degree program.

During the associate degree phase, students are offered interdisciplinary content related to Turkish literature, the geography of Türkiye, cultural values, social structure, and everyday life, in addition to courses designed to enhance advanced language competencies. As a result, students not only learn Turkish but also gain a multidimensional understanding of Türkiye’s cultural and social landscape.

The program is delivered through a two-stage educational model: a one-year online Turkish preparatory program followed by a two-year associate degree program. Turkish Preparatory Education Process

Key Learning Outcomes

• Turkish language instruction is provided at the A1, A2, B1, and B2 proficiency levels as preparation for progression to the associate degree program.
• Students who successfully complete the C1 level are awarded a Turkish Proficiency Certificate documenting their Turkish language competence.

Students who successfully complete the preparatory program become eligible to enroll in the first year of the Associate Degree Program in Turkish Language and Culture.

Associate Degree Education Process

Students who successfully complete the preparatory program progress to the two-year associate degree program, where they acquire academic knowledge and competencies related to the Turkish language, culture, history, and social life. Throughout the program, students enhance their ability to use Turkish as a language of academic communication and research while gaining a multidimensional understanding of Türkiye’s cultural and social structure.

Within the scope of the program, students have the opportunity to:

• Develop the ability to understand, interpret, and express themselves academically in the field of Academic Turkish,
• Gain insight into the traditions, social life, and cultural values of Turkish society within the scope of Cultural and Social Structure,
• Evaluate Türkiye’s historical heritage, tourism potential, and role in international relations in the fields of History, Tourism, and Foreign Policy,
• Examine the historical development of the Turkish language and significant works of Turkish literature.

Thanks to its interdisciplinary structure, the program enables students not only to improve their language skills but also to acquire a comprehensive academic understanding of Turkish culture and society.

Delivered entirely through an online distance learning model, the program offers a flexible learning experience independent of time and location. Students can easily access course content through Anadolu eKampüs (https://ekampus.anadolu.edu.tr), the University’s advanced learning management system.

Assessment and Evaluation

Academic performance is monitored through a transparent, reliable, and sustainable assessment system. The evaluation process consists of a midterm examination and a final examination administered each semester.

Examinations are conducted through a secure online proctored examination system, ensuring the integrity of the assessment process and enabling students to participate safely and confidently.

Graduation Requirements:

• Successful completion of at least 120 ECTS credits,
• A minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.
