The Associate Degree Program in Geriatric Care aims to train professionals capable of providing qualified, professional care services for the elderly—a population that is increasing day by day in our country. The program seeks to cultivate a workforce that understands the basic principles, processes, and management of institutions delivering elderly care services; communicates effectively and efficiently with older adults; enhances their quality of life; and internalizes the knowledge, skills, and values required for care services. At the same time, as in many parts of the world, older adults in our country prefer to remain in their own homes, yet often struggle to find trustworthy personnel to deliver home care. In this context, the program aims to train highly aware staff who can provide qualified, professional care services. The program also offers distance-learning opportunities for those already working in elderly care who wish to document their expertise, as well as for those seeking to specialize through formal education.
