The objective of the Undergraduate Program in History is to teach Turkish and world history through scientific methods. It aims to educate individuals who can study, comprehend, and interpret the stages of world history from its beginnings to the present day, the civilizations created by humankind, and the political, social, and economic developments throughout history—particularly the various periods of Turkish history—and, when necessary, rewrite them using scientific methodologies.

Today, there are a sufficient number of on-campus History departments at universities. However, it is also known that many individuals who are interested in this field are unable to attend formal education programs for various reasons. Meanwhile, “historical research and studies” are attracting growing interest both in Türkiye and around the world.

This program aims to reach a wide audience through the Open Education Faculty, to meet their need for knowledge, and to provide educational opportunities to people from all backgrounds and levels who are interested in the subject of history. Another goal of the program is to reach Turkish or ethnically Turkish history enthusiasts living abroad, enabling them to learn history directly from Turkish historians.
