The objective of the Undergraduate Program in Philosophy is to introduce students to the philosophical tradition, foster a philosophical mindset and critical perspective, teach conceptual thinking, and provide a foundation for engaging in philosophical inquiry.
Philosophy is a reason-based investigation of fundamental truths. To this end, philosophy opens the way for the disciplined examination of ideas and concepts in everyday life as well as in fields such as science, art, religion, and politics. It aims to cultivate an awareness of the accurate use of concepts in every field, encourages the formulation of new questions, and introduces new concepts developed in the process of addressing these questions.
